“Celebrating Nebraska’s Renaissance and Rebuilding”
[Flooded Event Park Being Rebuilt]

The 18th annual Nebraska Renaissance Faire and the 12th annual Midlands Pirate Festival will be running, together, at the newly refurbished Riverwest Park facility on the last weekend of April. The park’s owner, Bill Novak, and the festival’s producer, Mike Amos, decided that the great Nebraska flood needed to be overcome with a renewed spirit of celebration.

The combined events will take advantage of the need to clean up the popular park grounds and redesign the the layout into the largest Renaissance village in Nebraska.

*[“While the flooding was devastating to the park and its equipment, we are working very hard to not have to cancel any events planned for the Summer. There will be a lot of sand where the grass once was; but by closing sections of the park over the Summer, we will be able to plant grass and rotate areas for new seeding. Hopefully, by Fall, we will be pretty much back to normal. We will have limited tent camping on the grass this Sumer, but our RV camping  should be up and running by Memorial Day,” Bill Novak explains.]

The continuing Renaissance faire and Pirate festival will showcase top acts from around the Midwest performer circuit on newly built stages. It will also feature living history (outdoor museum) encampment groups, an artisan merchant village, a food court and beer garden, Medieval folklife demonstrations, hands-on games of skill, treasure hunts, a children’s realm and an equestrian stunt show by Joust Evolution.

*[Mike Amos notes, “Bill has been one of the hardest working guys in the region’s events venue business. He’s putting it all back together for the thousands of patrons who have attended our festivals.”]
